I am writing after a long time now. I was busy with some other work. Well friends the US economy is still not out of the woods or water whatever you call it. Most students from India are either in IT consultancies or doing PHD or doing Double Master's Degree.
I know some who returned to India. There are virtually no jobs in the market right now. Students who graduated in December 2008 are in the worst state. No jobs,No money, nothing right now. The best thing for students is stay in the university and extend their graduation. Students in the university are doing good. There are still no problems with university funding and there are plenty on on campus jobs and assistantships available.
The good news is that the IT industry is expected to pickup in july and august according to the IT consultants but we have wait and see. People who have been for H1-B are people who have direct jobs and they are approved very easily with one month of the application. Economists have predicted a last quarter recovery in 2009 and then continued recovery in 2010.
Recently I read in the news that 11 IT consultants were arrested in regards to H1-B Visa Scam. These were arrested on the charges of mail fraud, money laundering fraud, documents fraud etc. Four Consultancies were in the hit list. Now I heard that more and more consultancies are going to added to the list. To read more

Information for students coming to US for Pilot /Flight Training
| Flight Schools,Life in USA | 0comments »Lot of students from India and other countries come to USA for flight training in US Schools. In US, commercial Flight training is very expensive and may cost you anywhere between 20,000 to 40,000 dollars for a 8 month course. Most of you know this information but what I am going to share is a true incident happened to one of my friends.
The Guy came for flight training to US. It was just two months into the training, he called me up saying that his flight school closed down. He had deposited 20,000 into the school's account and he lost all that money. The academy was owned by a Punjabi guy in California. The academy had around 100 students, everyone lost their money. Since the academy declared bankruptcy, the students could not get their money back. Some of them even employed lawyers but still couldn't get the money. Almost everyone returned back to India since their visa was getting expired. But my friend is still in California and getting his training from a different school. He has borrowed money from his friends and family for this. Well he had taken the first 20,000 from a bank and has to repay it. The only advice I have is please do extensive research on flight schools before coming here. The best way is referrals from students who already studied in that school.
